Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA, School of Agriculture) is a research faculty of University of Lisbon in the fields of Agriculture, Forestry, Food, Animal Production, Environmental Engineering, Biology and Landscape Architecture. The academic staff includes ca. 150 professors and researchers, and nearly 2000 undergraduate, master and PhD students, and post docs.
ISA includes two research centers: LEAFLinking Landscape, Environment, Agriculture and Food, and CEF Forest Research Center. A total 88 R&D projects are underway (16 international). The research results are published internationally with overall very good impact.

The Forest Research Centre (CEF) is a research unit devoted to the integrated investigation of forests and related ecosystems, forest products and forestbased services. With 85 Ph.D. members, 13 Ph.D. associates and 57 postgraduates, the strategic goal is to combine investigation on the functioning of the main forest ecosystems in Portugal and relevant forest products and services, with fundamental and methodological research.

CEF has four research areas: 1) Forest Ecology, 2) Managing Biodiversity in Forest, Aquatic and Agroecosystems, 3) Forest Ecosystems Management, 4) Science and Technology of Forest Products. CEF has a high expertise in its R&D areas with high international publication record, success in competitive projects and experience in managing EU and national projects.

The Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária, I.P. (INIAV). is a state laboratory which includes the former state laboratories Laboratório Nacional de Investigação Veterinária (LNIV) and Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e das Pescas (INIAP). Its mission is to pursuit research in the domain of biological resources. As such, its policies aim to protect and to add value to the Portuguese biological resources and to backup Portuguese policies internally and towards the European Union.
INIAV promotes research and development (RD) activities in domains of science and technology, agriculture, forestry, food and production, agroforestry production, rural development and crop protection, as well as food technologies and biotechnology.

UNAC – Union of the Mediterranean Forest is a nonprofit organization which represents the interests of forest producers of the Mediterranean area, through a strategy of interventionoriented technical and political.

UNAC’s objectives are: promote forest protection and development of the Mediterranean countryside? promote and defend the economic and social interests of the region and his associates? articulate and coordinate the structures of the Associations? develop measures to Cheap Jerseys From China preserve and improve the land and forest’s assets and ensure the coordination of the forest owners organizations.

Through UNAC organizations define common positions on strategic issues, cross shareholdings and develop valid, constructive and technically justified contributions and participations. UNAC activities and expertise are very wide: technical and political action, intervention in the cork sector, coordination and development of projects, public awareness campaigns, training courses, representation in several processes and organizations
at National and European level, workshop/seminars organization, dissemination of information, forest certification, etc.

UNAC represents 6 forest owners organizations, established mainly in the South of Portugal, totalizing an intervention area of 2 million ha and representing an agroforestry area of 700.000 ha. Its geographical representation in agroforestry territory is extremely important, so provide a reference partner in research and development projects.
